It's prep day for me, the day before the 3 day, 3 Rule Diet. I picked up everything on my shopping list, put a roast in the slow cooker, made my wraps, printed out my menu and stuck it up on my fridge.
This plan is a spin on the Military Diet that I used before going low carb. A simple, on-line plan that has been around forever, and one that always worked for me. I would lose 2 to 2.5 pounds over the 3 days. The bad part was I felt really, really hungry. The good part was I did learn about the magic of eating 3 meals a day with no snacking. Proponents of no snacking claim that it helps to balance hormones, particularly leptin. I personally find it helps my energy levels and improves my sleep and makes weight loss much easier.
I also loved the fact that I knew exactly what I was going to eat for the next 3 days. Having a plan helps eliminate decision fatigue. The more choices you make throughout the day, the harder each one becomes for your brain to process, eventually it looks for shortcuts and you start to act impulsively and ditch the diet.
We all know what we need to do, what works best for us and what fits into our lives. You don't really need another book or another new diet program. The only thing you have to do is make a plan and then stick to it - 3 days at a time.
